FAQ'S
Your Questions, Answered
At what age can my dog begin training?
Puppy training can begin as early as 8 weeks of age. This will set your pup up for success and help prevent bad behaviors from developing.
Is my dog too old to learn?
No, there is no dog too old to learn. Older dogs are usually a bit harder to train due to them being set in their ways. This may come off as being stubborn since they have lived many years without anyone trying to change them. Training older dogs may require much more patience which makes many people give up. At Heightened Instincts we have successfully trained dogs as old as 12 years old!
What does Heightened Instincts Dog Training do differently than others in your field?
At Heightened Instincts we don't just stop the unwanted behaviors with punishments. We dig deep into the issue to find what exactly is causing the unwanted behavior and solve that issue. This way the unwanted behavior will go away while leaving a happy and loving dog.
What is your training methodology?
We are proficient in dozens of training techniques and methods. Every dog is different and unique so what works for one may not work for another. We use the method that works for your individual dog to get the best results possible. A consultation is the best way to find out what will work for you.
How much does training cost?
I offer different training programs to fit your needs. A consultation is the best way to receive an exact quote. During the consultation we will go in depth into the problem behaviors as well as what your training goals are. This will allow us to determine what training route will benefit you the most. Schedule your consultation today.
Will my dog forget me if I send it away for training?
Absolutely not! Your dog will be the exact same dog, only much more obedient. The bond between you will only grow more after the training since you'll be able to do much more with your dog, like go out together to more places!
Can I visit my dog during it's Board and Train?
You are more than welcome to visit, but I normally don't recommend it. I advice against it since it can have adverse effects on your dog. Your dog will be so excited to see you that it may not want to listen, causing some regression in the training. Instead of visits I provide weekly updates along with pictures.
